William
Philip Ross Munro is born of an American Mother and a Canadian Father
and exhibits in both Countries as well as the Bahamas. This site
contains works of art from different periods in Ross' career and
artistic production.
The
paintings and photography of this artist have found their origins
in the works of Modern Masters such as Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne,
Picasso, and Pierre Puvis de Chavanne as well as in that of Renaissance
Artists such as Michael Angelo and Leonardo da Vinci as a natural
corollory of his five years of classical training at the Ecole Nationale
Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, France. The tradition of portraying
the human condition is also found in Contemporary Artists such as
Sandro Chia whose work often seems to parallel that of this Fine
Artist.
Munro's studies in Engineering lend a mathematical base to his compositions
which are often derived from the "Golden Section" format used in
Ancient Greece. This analytical approach provides a base in many
of Ross' Commissioned Works allowing for harmonious configurations
designed to perfectly fit the required space of each project.
In
Ross' new paintings, the E-scapes, diptych configurations, juxtaposing
images in mixed media, are used to evoke questions of Society and
Environmental issues.
The
most recent production not to miss on this site is the Underwater
Figure Series which has become most popular and highly acclaimed.
Munro
creates his imagery combining visual concepts of both figurative
and abstract art in a moving synthesis of spirit and emotion. His
works may be found in many Collections of note, including that of
the Art Bank of The Canada Council for the Arts.
